I'm Leanna Mae. I have always loved to teach! I've been passionate about health care since I was young. Drawn to midwifery in my teen years, I knew without a doubt I wanted to go into women's health care. I became a birth doula in 2008 at 20 years old. I knew then that prenatal education was very necessary to get the natural birth many women wanted. I later went to college and learned a lot more about how the body works and how healthcare works. My degree is in health sciences. Patient education is my niche of health care. I started teaching classes after I graduated college in 2018. I love to teach. I love to watch people progress in their journey of knowledge and abilities. I'm here to partner with you and guide you in the learning process from fertility to weaning. I offer guidance and support as you practice your birth preparation. I enjoy teaching the span of reproductive health from fertility, prenatal wellness, birth preparation, postpartum care, and breastfeeding success.
My approach is to be mindful of all types of births whether unmedicated or with an epidural or something in between, vaginal or cesarean, hospital or birthing center or home, with an OB or with a midwife of any type, healthy or high risk, and any outcome. I strive to prepare students for the variety of ways birth can be and to be able to navigate the planned and the unexpected. I have no biases towards a certain type of birth or birth location. |
