Studying chapters from The Subject of Salvation

Download the e-book
These bible studies use the book, The Subject of Salvation. Highlight verses are chosen followed by slides of the entire chapter. You can teach or study individual chapters. There are also a few suggested bible study class plans near the bottom of the page.

Anyone is welcome to use this web page to teach a bible study provided that the material is not modified. You can teach from your phone, tablet, or laptop. You are also welcome to put this up on a screen in a public setting such as church (no permission required).

My long-term goal is to get the entire book on this page in slideshows for each chapter with PDF workbook pages to go along.

This book is divided into 3 sections. Part 1 talks about who God is and what the bible is. That lays the foundation before we begin to study salvation. Part 2 is the study of salvation breaking it down into easy-to-read chapters. Part 3 talks about living for the Lord as a Christian.

Why Part 1
We need to lay a foundation. As a former atheist, someone asked me what's the first thing I would talk about to someone interested in becoming Christian. My answer was that people need to know who Jesus is before they will understand sin or salvation or anything else. We also need to establish the bible as the word of truth divinely inspired by God. Those two things need to be taught before we get into any topical bible study.

Why Part 2
We need to study salvation. Of all the things we can and will consider as a Christian, this is the most important. We must be saved. We must know what the Word says is required. We need to be obedient to that, not making excuse or argument but submitting ourselves to obeying what we are told to do.

Why Part 3
We do people a disservice when we stop after the essentials and do not teach them how to live as Christians. We should be teaching people how to pray and how to study the bible. We should be teaching spiritual battle. We should be nurturing the growth of their roots in Christ and nurturing their growth in spiritual maturity. The way we live matters. Holiness matters. Righteousness matters. The seasoned saints need to be teaching the spiritually younger how to live out the faith. We should also teach how to share the faith. Let's not neglect these more mature topics after someone has come to believe and has followed instructions for salvation.
