Type of class: in-person, GROUP CLASS ONLY 5+ couples

What this class is about: A birth scarf (often called a rebozo) is a shawl-like long piece of fabric that can be used for birth. This class will teach you how to use fabric to support labor and delivery as well as ways you can use it during pregnancy. It’s a hands-on class where we will discuss over 30 methods, I will demonstrate, and then each couple will have time to practice.

Note: Birth scarf training is included in the coping with contractions class.

Class outline and curriculum:
  • What is a birth scarf?
  • Where do you find birth scarfs? What can you use?
  • A few cautions and reminders
  • How do you use them? We discuss use during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum.
  • How will you use a birth scarf?
  • At the end of class, we can take a few moments to review any techniques you want to clarify.

There is a handout that goes along with this class. I will print one copy for each couple and give it at the beginning of class.

Why take it: This is a fun class with a practical purpose. You can use a birth scarf throughout pregnancy, during labor and even delivery, as well as a few postpartum uses. If it can bring you comfort, it’s worth learning about.

Who it’s open to: This is for pregnant women at least 20 weeks along, preferably in their third trimester. For this class, you do need a support person as many of the techniques take two. If you do not have a spouse/partner, you are welcome to bring a friend for this class.

What to wear: This class is very hands-on. We will be standing, kneeling, and squatting. Wear something flexible. If you want, you can bring a blanket for added modesty.

What to bring: You don’t have to bring anything for this class. If you have your own birth scarf, bring it. You can also bring an alternative such as a sheet to practice with. The teacher will have a birth scarf to demonstrate with and allow everyone to use.

Where class is: This class is available in person in the Dayton, Ohio area. Service area is based on county. See the Classes I Teach page for more information. All classes are in-home unless a student can host at their church or other public location (in public is preferred if able).

How long class is: 45 min to an hour and a half depending on how many people are in the class

When: All classes are by appointment only.

Cost: $30 per couple or individual if not a couple.

How to schedule: Email me via the contact button below. Before scheduling any in-home private classes, I do meet in a public location for safety reasons. In that meeting, we will customize the class outline and do payment. For public classes, email me to sign up and receive an invoice via Paypal. Once payment is complete, you will receive an email confirming your spot in the class along with the date and time.
