Hello! I’m Leanna. I’m an Apostolic Pentecostal Christian, nonfiction author, women’s health educator, and birth doula in western Ohio. If you’re looking for a conservative Christian doula within 1-1.5hr of Dayton, Ohio, I’d love to hear from you.
A little bit about me professionally: My main thing is writing. I’m an author. I have written and indie published several nonfiction print books. I also write blogs on www.LeannaMae.org My focus with blogs is to share my faith. I have blogs on women’s health as well. My website has had visitors from over 50 countries on 6 continents. I love hearing from my readers! I love LOVE love teaching. I prefer one-on-one or small groups so we can really customize each class and get all the student’s questions answered. My favorite class to teach is on coping with contractions. That class is super fun! I really enjoy it. I hope to get classes online someday and be able to have students all around the world. I do birth doula work on a part-time basis. I absolutely feel like birthwork is a path God called me to. I can’t recall a specific moment I became interested in it. The passion was always there and it began to unravel in my late teens. I did my initial doula training in 2008 at 20 years old. Years later, I also did a bereavement doula training in 2018-2019. I think it's a beautiful way to serve people. There's so much I love about doula work. It's a hard job yet rewarding. I'm grateful for this journey of walking beside women as they walk their birth journey. My degree is in health sciences. Patient education is a big passion of mine. I also care a lot about patient rights and healthcare ethics. I graduated Sinclair in 2018. I had originally started college as a nursing major with the intention to become a nurse-midwife. I switched majors to health sciences for several reasons. One of those was the desire to focus more on patient education and go off the beaten path of typical hospital work. Women’s health is my jam. Labor and delivery is by far my favorite area of healthcare. When I was younger, that was my only interest. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve grown a desire to build a better foundation with more generalized (med-surg) knowledge. I also like ED and cardiology is cool, but L&D will always have my heart. Critical care used to scare me when I was younger, but it fascinates me now. I do appreciate the growth that comes with high-risk cases. That said, I am neither nurse nor midwife and do not include any clinical care in doula support. I am also a certified breastfeeding specialist and offer lactation support to my doula clients. I recently started a new adventure as a part-time simulated patient at the local med school. I look forward to nurturing the student’s growth in the way they communicate and interact with patients. As you can see, I juggle several things. Therefore, I only take 1 or 2 births a month. Please reach out sooner rather than later. There’s no official cut off point for doula services, but we do need to be able to get all the appointments in. A little bit about me personally: I’m Apostolic Pentecostal. My Christian faith is at the core of my identity. I actually used to be an atheist. I became a Christian in 2005 at 17 years old. I now spend my life writing blogs to the world hoping to reach countless people with the message of Jesus, the gospel, and helpful guides for the Christian walk. I’m an autumn lover. I’m obsessed with pumpkin season. I love a crisp 50 degrees. Rainy weather soothes my spirit. I want string lights. I just want them everywhere. I’m a night owl through and through. I come alive at 7pm and thrive at 11pm. Flowers always make me smile. I enjoy organizing as well. I’m a very introverted INTJ (close to INFJ). I can never have too much tea. Burritos make me happy. To drink iced coffee is to sip on joy. I’m a small-town girl who loves being out in the country. Driving down backroads where there’s no lines on the road is medicine. I’m a country rustic girl that likes to go antique shopping. What you can expect with me as your doula: I incorporate my faith into everything I do. I bring scripture, prayer, and worship into my classes and doula services. I like to be comprehensive in my curriculum. I’m also more comprehensive in my doula services than the standard. I offer more appointments and provide more education. I hope you like to read because I will send you tons of information throughout your pregnancy. My support style is gentle. You lead; I listen. I am more of a quiet person and a bit soft-spoken (though I don’t hesitate to advocate in a professional manner). I approach prenatal/birth/postpartum support with calmness. I’m not here to tell you what to do. I’m here to hear what you want, answer your questions, tell you all the options, and support what you choose. I’ve learned over the years how different people want different things as well as how much different people cope differently with labor. I keep an open mind and a large box of tools up my sleeve. I also have a very large bag of support supplies you are welcome to use. Are you looking for a Christian doula that is conservative, pro-life, and uses traditional/biblical language? Learn more and let’s chat! Check out my doula page here to learn more about doula services. If you’re interested in classes, my service area for that is a little wider. Click here for class info. If you decide you’d like to meet in person for a consultation, click the contact page and send me an email. I’ll email back with a couple of pre-consultation questions and then we’ll meet in a public place. I usually meet at a café here in the Dayton metro. Consultations are free. I’m always up for iced coffee. So, let’s chat about your upcoming birth and what doula support can look like for you.
