LOCAL CLASS - coping with contractions
What this class is about: This is a comprehensive class about your options for coping with contractions and comfort methods during labor. We talk about natural and non-medicinal approaches as well as medication options. Know your options; choose what is right for you.
Class outline and curriculum:
There is a workbook that goes along with this class. The workbook is free. Please download it through the blog here and consider printing it for class.
Why take it: Birth is hard no matter how you do it. Labor can be intense, but you can be proactive in your approach to navigating it. Even if planning an epidural, there are qualifications that must be met and a momma may go through hours of labor before she is able to get her epidural. Learn a variety of ways women get through contractions. You may not use every way, but the more tools you have in your toolbox of options that you know how to use the more capable you are. It helps you to have the knowledge.
Who it’s open to: This is for pregnant women in their third trimester. A spouse or one support person is included in the cost of the class.
What to wear: This class is very hands-on. Wear something flexible. If you want, you can bring a blanket for added modesty.
What to bring: You don’t have to bring anything for this class, but you may find it more comfortable to bring pillows. I recommend printing out the workbook and bringing it in a binder. Bring a pen and a notebook if you’d like to. The teacher will provide pen and paper for the activities. If you have any support tools for labor, you are welcome to bring them and practice with what you have.
