Type of class: in-person, private classes or group classes
What this class is about: This class is for women who want to support birth for family and friends or church members, but are not currently pursuing doula work as a small business or ministry. If you have done a doula training but feel you weren’t well-educated on the support techniques, this class will be helpful to you.
Class outline and curriculum: We will discuss the basics of labor and contractions, coping techniques, comfort measures, positioning, helping people plan, troubleshooting, learning styles and teaching approaches, good support and bad support, listening skills, communication skills, biases, and personal growth as a support person.
Why take it: If you’re going to support birth, you want to make a positive impact and improve outcomes. If you’re interested in doula work in any way, seek education.
Who it’s open to: This is open for women 14 years old and up. If you work in women’s health such as a labor and delivery nurse, this is a great class to get the doula skills without having to start a doula business. If you are interested in becoming a doula or midwife or L&D RN, seek this wisdom.
What to wear: Dress for flexibility. We will be doing a lot of hands-on techniques.
What to bring: Binder, paper, pens, highlighters, post-it flags. Bring a big jug of water. You can bring a blanket for added modesty and pillows for help positioning if you want.
Where class is: This class is available in person in the Dayton, Ohio area. Service area is based on county. See the Classes I teach page for more information. All classes are in-home unless a student can host at their church or other public location (in public is preferred if able).
How long class is: This is a 3-day workshop.
When: All classes are by appointment only.
Cost: $400 per individual
How to schedule: Email me via the contact button below. Before scheduling any in-home private classes, I do meet in a public location for safety reasons. In that meeting, we will customize the class outline and do payment. For public classes, email me to sign up and receive an invoice via Paypal.
