Stay on topic. – This is an easy point to make. Your subtopic shouldn’t start to take over your whole paper. Bring everything back to focus.
Spelling – I give you one word of advice…. “Proofread!” You have spellcheck for a reason.
Vocab – Use advanced vocabulary. Reference a thesaurus if you need to.
Stick to the teacher’s preferred formatting – Some teachers care more about context than formatting. Those are the nice teachers. Others make you jump through hoops that are on fire. If they say make it a certain font of size 12 and double spaced, you’ll lose easy points by not following those instructions.
Have a proper works cited – I know MLA vs APA is like Bloods vs. Crypts. It’s basically the same thing, but slightly different. College professors are ridiculous about this.

Punctuality – Turn it in on time. This sounds simple, but so many students don’t even show up the day it’s due.
