Choose life

Picture

If you will, take a moment to take a deep breath and let go of any negative energy or strong feelings. This page is not here to be a place of condemnation or attack. It is here to be a place of awareness and consideration. Abortion is by far one of the most controversial topics of our time and an ethically challenging topic in women's health care. There are good people on all sides of this debate. There are people on all sides whose goal is to protect, advocate, defend, and support. There are also legitimate points to consider from the different angles here. There are understandable reasons to support abortion. There are understandable reasons to oppose abortion. Tangled in the midst of all these reasons are women in crisis who are hurting and making (or considering) a desperate decision. Lost in the brokenness of their mother's crisis are the babies, the little ones at such varying stages of development, whose value and worthiness of human rights is endangered.

Some pregnancies are planned.  Other pregnancies are unplanned.  Some babies are long-awaited. Other babies are a shocking jolt to the expectations for the coming months. Some mothers and their babies are healthy. Others are not. Pregnancy is not always picture perfect. It can be scary. It can be raw. Circumstances can be painful. Sometimes it can even be dangerous. The timing or circumstances can be a crisis for many reasons. That is all very valid.

Blessings sometimes come with raindrops. Sometimes babies come at a bad time. Maybe it's a financial struggle. Maybe it's marriage problems or relationship trouble. Domestic violence is incredibly common. Maybe you're in the middle of college. Maybe this child will be close in age to your last and you're already overwhelmed to the max. There are many valid reasons that it's not a good time to have a baby. Those circumstances are often temporary. A child is not.

Eliminate the crisis; don't eliminate the baby. In your given circumstances, is there anything that can be done to solve or improve the problem? Is this something that will still be a problem a year from now? What about several years from now?

If the crisis can't be solved, what kind of help do you need? Seek support. Contact your local pregnancy resource centers. See if there are any programs you qualify for. Find your community of those who help others in a crisis.

Adoption is always an option. If parenting is not the right choice for you, there are many who would love the blessing of a child. You can give them that gift and give your child life.

Unique, precious, and irreplacable

Science is clear. Human life begins at the moment of conception. While there are understandable reasons that pregnancy is a crisis, terminating that pregnancy is killing an innocent child. The more you learn about human development in the womb and the details of abortion, the more apparent it is that abortion is simply not an acceptable solution for crisis pregnancy. These babies are very human and capable of feeling pain. We cannot take away one person's life to ease another. We must protect them both and support them both.

Every person is unique. These babies who are not yet born are already an individual that can never be replaced or replicated. Their lives matter. They are just as human as you and I. They are living. They are valuable. Protect them. Choosing life is a blessing. At times, it is also a sacrifice. Love them enough to give them life.

Proverbs 31:8-9
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.
